Count down to life on the island: 1 days............
Although I only lived in St. Maarten for 10 days, I felt like Doug and I were able to make it "HOME". We found a place to live, bought a car, familiarized ourselves with the island (its only 36 square miles!) and made friends. Great right? Well, I've been away from the island now for almost four weeks. I couldn't quit teaching before the end of the semester so I was forced to be away from Doug, and our new home for what seemed like an eternity. Now it no longer feels like home. I feel like I'm going to a strange new land. Ah..............

Count down to life on the island: 3 days............
In my head that translates into 3 more days until I see Doug again! On one hand I can't wait and on the other hand, I don't want to leave my family. I'm not sure which feeling to give into, excitement or sadness??? So it translates into anxiety and.............pimples! Yuck!

Count down to life on the island: 5 days............
Normalcy is no longer a word in my vocabulary...is that even a word? I have been living out of suitcase for the last 5 weeks. No place to lay my head stinks, literally sometimes! Ha...In the last 5 weeks I've lived in Santa Barbara, St. Maarten, Lompoc and Los Angeles. But in 5 more days my permanent residence will be in the Caribbean, on the island of St. Maarten.
